A wonderful blend of frankincense, myrrh, and other resins that creates a wonderful, fresh scent that is reminiscent of the sea, recalling the ancient Celtic monastic community on the island of Iona. Contains undertones of lemon, sweetgrass, and lavender. Comes in a one ounce bag.
Desert Fathers Incense is a small artisan incense studio in Nevada. It is run by an Eastern Orthodox woman who attained master incense maker certification at a Coptic incense-making institute in Egypt. She is a true representative of the Oriental Orthodox incense tradition. She sources her frankincense and myrrh mainly from Ethiopian Orthodox monasteries, especially Quese Abahazz and Monastery of the Holy Ghama (Tree of Life). These monasteries produce fine-quality frankincense and myrrh and supply much of the Coptic world with resins, though they are relatively unknown to Eastern Orthodox incense makers. It is only through her training from the reposed Coptic incense master Khalil and his connections to these remote Ethiopian monasteries that they are available to her. Thus, when purchasing this product, you not only receive rare and high quality incense made in the Coptic style, but also support Ethiopian monasteries.
